Somehow, it seems that even with all of the modern conveniences we have in terms of communications that it’s become harder and less reliable to actually communicate with people. Just thirty years ago, you called someone. If they were in the growing number of families that had an answering machine you likely left a message, and then the game of phone tag was afoot. If there was no answer you called back later. Or perhaps you might speak to someone else in the house that would take a written message. And business was conducted over the phone from 9am until 5pm.

OK… I admit, it’s a rainy, dreary day, and I’m not in the best mood already when this all started, but it still shows how the modern retail world are losing grips with the concepts of Customer Service and how one 60 second encounter with the wrong person or the wrong attitude can change a relationship and either win or lose a future long-term client. And that can equate to a LOT of money over the term of that relationship.
A decade of change…
It started 10 years ago – in the morning of September 11, 2001 – when the World Trade Center in New York was destroyed, and a large number of American citizens were killed in the name of terrorism. At that moment the world as we know it started to change. And has continued to do so since.
