I found my new home…

On wheels no less.  OK, no big surprise since you know already that I am planning to spend most of the coming year in a motorhome, but the fact is that I found a very decent deal on a rather nice rig that will fit both my needs and my budget.

So in the first week of September, I’ll be the proud owner of a ‘new-to-me’ 32 foot long 1988 Corsair Motorhome in very nice condition.  This thing is quite well equipped and will be – of course – even better equipped when I’m done adding a few small toys to complete the technical needs of someone in my position.  The hardest part will be figuring out where everything goes.  You see…  even something this big has less total storage and floor space than my office does in my home right now, and I have to be able to live in, cook in, work in and even relax in this thing, while still keeping it functional and comfortable.  So the challenge will certainly be set.

It’s actually not a bad looking rig either…  and includes a few features that actually surprised me.  Of course roof and dash Air conditioning for the hot climates, and a furnace with 4 in-floor ducts for the cooler ones.  Good sized tanks for fresh and used waters, and on-board generator for ensuring that there is always power to spare.  Surprises included a built-in vacuum system that still works, and a couple of larger than I had expected storage compartments.  Not a full basement by any means, but certainly a fair bit of space under the rig for things I won’t need easy access to.

It’s comfortable, with a queen sized bed in the rear, and of course the front sofa and dinette also convert quickly and easily into beds if I ever have need of such things, and the galley is quite functional.  I’ll have to add a small microwave/convection oven to make it complete, but that’s not too much to consider.  The fridge is almost new, and the bathroom is, while a little cozy, ample for the basic needs it’s designed to supply.

The only thing it’s really missing that I can’t add is a laundry.  Not a big thing though as I’m sure i can find a place to wash my clothes on the road.

She’s in great shape and will look really good when decals are in place too.  I’ve posted a couple of pictures showing one possible layout for the decals, and of course to show the rig.  So this will be my home from early September 2010 until I reach Ontario in 2011.  And who knows…  maybe a little longer.

Oh…  and on another note before I run away.   I was just realizing that the month of July 2010 marked the 30th anniversary of my arrival here on Vancouver Island.  It’s been a pretty good 30 years in all – with many people that have been a part of my life during my time here that will be dearly missed.  But more on that later.

Back to Packing…

Cheers!

  1. Great Deal Norm !! Don’t worry about the laundry, you will meet some fabulous people in the laundry matts, and do up some ads for on those laundry matt bulletin boards!!

  2. I would like to propose not to wait until you earn enough money to order goods! You should take the business loans or just consolidation loans and feel fine
